David畢業於彰師大英語系，具有英語專長及教學能力，到校後主要任務為協助英語補救教學，充實英語網站及教學情境佈置。校長特別於教師晨會向全體老師介紹；教務主任也在學生朝會介紹給大家，並開始和小朋友英語互動，希望David的到來能給學子不同的啟發，讓大家更熱衷於英文學習的探索。讓我們用熱情的掌聲歡迎David……
Hi, everyone! My name is David. I’m glad to be introduced to Shigang Elementary School. I’m also glad serving the little kids here. Before I came to this town, I was overcome by a sense of fear for mixed reasons. I’m not sure if I would survive in this rural town. I’m not sure what I can do for the kids here because I was trained to be a high school teacher, not an elementary one. After being here for one week, my perspective was shifted. Everyone here treated me well and they do need me to help them accomplish so many things. Some of them may be difficult. It indeed arouses my sense of purpose. Every time I see kids running around the campus with laughter, I can’t help imagine what kind of man they will become. Sooner or later they have to decide what kind of person they want to be. No matter this person has good character or bad, it’s going to change the world. And it’s our destiny to make sure they have a good one in the future. In the end I would like to quote from Man of Steel movie trailer as my self-expectation for the following year: You’ll give them an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you; they will stumble; they will fall. In time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you’ll help them, accomplish wonders. I believed I was sent here for a reason. And even if it takes the rest of my life, I owe it to myself to find out what that reason is. I think I would enjoy being here.
